That's what I'm talking about.....747s and 707s still flying today. These are still great airplanes ok . The military calls them by other names but for me they are 707s and 747s... I grew up in Miami in the 70s...and todays airliners are more economical but they don't have the pizzazz of the golden jet age... . when it was announced, my whole school went to see the first 747 arrive in Miami ( Eastern airlines) everyone said " look here it comes, it's a real jumbo jet." ....and when it taxied next to a Pan American 707..it towered over it and the 707 is a huge airplane. .you could see how large the 747 really was.... almost as long as a football field!!!! dear US Air Force, please... keep flying these jets for years to come...

Ah, the TF-39. General Electric's first attempt at a conventional high-bypass turbofan. Essentially a scaled-up J79(?) with a fan bolted to the front. Please correct me if I'm wrong about the J79 part.

Used to watch them come in for landings at Dobbins AFB in Marietta GA the screaming TF39 would be so loud that out building would start to shake as it flew over probably 300 Ft
